After a couple of issues with some software updates, Apple has made some quiet revisions to address the problems. The first was a Snow Leopard security update which inadvertently caused problems with Apple's PowerPC emulation layer Rosetta. Macworld notes that Apple has since released Security Update 2012-001, version 1.1 for Snow Leopard.

Earlier today, Japanese blog Macotakara claimed that Apple will be holding an "unusual" event in February, backtracking somewhat on its earlier claim of an early February iPad 3 event . The Loop 's well-connected Jim Dalrymple now reports that Apple will not hold an event in February, indicating that observers waiting for the iPad 3 or other major announcement from Apple will need to hold out until at least March. This is not going to happen, according to my sources

Not even the two outgoing CEOs of RIM would argue that the company's ill-fated BlackBerry PlayBook tablet was a success. In fact, as far as tech flops go we'd argue that it's right up there with the HP TouchPad.

I had mentioned in an earlier post that one of the things which I was most looking forward to with the release ofthe iPhone 4S jailbreak was the new and innovative uses for the personal assistant, Siri. Developers have been itching to get their hands on a jailbroken 4S to allow them to test, amend and then release their tweaks and enhancements which will bring more power to the already very functional and intelligent voice analysis software.

In the past 5 years, Apple's push into the enterprise has been led by the iPhone and the iPad. Corporate IT departments, long dominated by the BlackBerry, are becoming more receptive to iOS products, especially when users are given the choice about which platform to use. The public may not remember, but up until 2001 the major high streets around the world were missing one key component - Apple retail stores.
