The best news of the week is that HP is NOT killing off webOS. After months of deliberation, HP announced that it will release webOS as an open source platform and will continue to be a active player in developing and support the platform. That's great news for Touchpad owners!

Hewlett-Packard on Friday announced that is is contributing its webOS platform to the open source software community. The company confirmed that it would not build any new webOS hardware for the time being, though it said it would continue to actively develop and support the operating system. “WebOS is the only platform designed from the ground up to be mobile, cloud-connected and scalable,” said HP CEO Meg Whitman in a statement.
