Bloomberg briefly reports that Apple and Disney are in talks to bring sports network ESPN's WatchESPN application [ App Store ] to the Apple TV set-top box. ESPN subscribers with AppleTV would gain access to the network’s Internet service on their TV sets.

Malaysia's Maxis Bhd has announced that it will be offering the data plans for Apple's iPad , starting as soon as this week. The iPad will take advantage of the company's recent carrier upgrades (presumably, since we're talking about the iPad, it's a 3G network) and will "double the download and websurfing performance previously available," according to Maxis Bhd. We'll take their word on what that means

Just over a month after the arrival of the previous build , Apple today seeded registered members of the Mac Developer Program with the third developer preview version of OS X Mountain Lion. The new version arrives as Build 12A178q, up from the earlier 12A154q version. Changes included in the new version have yet to be discovered, but those with access to the build will undoubtedly be searching for Apple's latest tweaks as the company continues to work on the next-generation operating system.

It doesn't get much more futuristic than "universal quantum network," but we're going to have to find something else to pine over, since a UQN now exists. A group from the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics has tied the quantum states of two atoms together using photons, creating the first network of qubits.

While Sprint is behind other major U.S. carriers Verizon and AT&T in its buildout of next-generation LTE networks, the carrier does appear to preparing to maintain one advantage of its offerings as it makes the transition by continuing to offer unlimited data even for LTE devices. The initial confirmation was picked up by TechHog , which noticed that the carrier was promoting LTE and unlimited data for the LG Viper, which is likely to be the first LTE device to launch on Sprint's network

China Mobile may be the world's largest carrier with over 650 million customers, but it is not yet an official iPhone carrier, due in part to unique technology used for its 3G network that would so far have forced Apple to build special hardware to be compatible with the carrier. But that hasn't stopped the carrier from supporting the iPhone for its customers to use on its 2G network, and Tech in Asia now reports on news from Beijing Daily sharing that China Mobile now has 15 million iPhone users. AT&T Revamps Throttling Policy, Only Slows Unlimited Users above 3GB/Month

AT&T is retooling its throttling policy with regards to users with unlimited data plans, originally implemented last year. Instead of throttling customers on a case-by-case basis , users are going to be slowed after a fixed amount of data usage each month. 3G/HSPA+ users with unlimited data plans will be slowed after 3GB of data usage, while 4G/LTE users will be slowed after 5GB each month
