Apple is on a mission to build the thinnest iPhone yet, and the company may break the 8-millimeter mark when it launches its next iPhone later this year. Reports surfaced last week that Apple is looking to utilize a new display technology in its next iPhone that places a panel’s touch sensors inside the color filters rather than above them, allowing the panel to be thinner without sacrificing responsiveness.

Apple’s next-generation iPhone will reportedly make use of new display technology that will allow the device to utilize thinner components without sacrificing responsiveness. Citing anonymous sources within Apple’s component supply chain, DigiTimes on Friday reported that Apple’s new iPhone will utilize in-cell touch panels rather than industry-standard on-cell technology. In-cell touch panel technology allows a device’s touch sensors to reside inside a display’s color filters rather than above them, and the result is a thinner, lighter panel

Barclays on Thursday announced the launch of the Barclaycard PayTag, a sticker that can be placed on any handset to equip it with instant NFC compatibility.
