Yesterday, a TouchArcade thread was posted that warned about fraudulent App promotion services that guarantee Top 25 rankings for a modest fee. According to the poster, these services utilize automated scripts or bots to artificially boost free app rankings into the Top charts.

Sprint boots four execs, restructures enterprise and consumer businesses

Sprint’s CEO Dan Hesse said in a note to employees Friday that Sprint will merge the marketing and sales teams of its enterprise and consumer businesses into one body. Hesse said the carrier is restructuring in an effort to better streamline its operations, Reuters reported on Friday. As a result, Sprint is also removing four executives from their roles with the firm.

Apple has updated the firmware of its Apple TV (2G) to version 4.4.4, citing a series of negligible bug fixes as the reason behind the new release. The device, which was only very recently bumped to firmware 4.4.3 , doesn’t offer any goodies, but is necessary for users experiencing any issues with the little black box. The official changelog notes: general performance and stability improvements, including a fix for an issue that displayed an error when playing some video content

Apple has re-released iOS 5.0.1 (Build 9A406) specifically for its new-ish smartphone, the iPhone 4S. The device, seen by many as a modest touch-up from the preceding iPhone 4, has been dogged with battery issues from the get-go, with many consumers claiming 10% depletion per hour of the A5-powered device. The fruit company isn’t unfamiliar with post-release issues of its smartphone range; after all, the iPhone 4 gained worldwide notoriety last year when antenna-related issues saw the Cupertino-based company issue free bumpers to consumers in a rather embarrassed attempt to paper over the preparation oversights.

Yesterday we covered how the lawsuits between Apple and Samsung may have fueled sales for the new Galaxy Tab in Australia. Now, it looks like Samsung is putting money where their mouth is and making it a marketing campaign. Martin Aungle, an Australian corporate and marketing communications professional, sent out a tweet to Samsung followers that pictured an ad showing the tablet and the words, “the tablet Apple tried to stop” The ad appeared on a page from the Australian’s Sun Herald but we’re unsure if it was placed anywhere else.
